Abstract
An experiment was conducted to study the growth and flowering performance of two varieties of potted gerbera at Horticulture Farm, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from July, 2009 to April, 2010. The varieties under this study (viz., red and yellow colored flower) showed distinct variations on flower yield and yield contributing characteristics. Maximum number of leaf (29.6 plant-1), diameter of flower (7.2 cm) and peduncle length (25.3 cm) was recorded from variety with yellow colored flower and maximum number of flower (14.1 plant -1) was recorded from the variety with red colored flower. Variety with yellow colored flowers showed better performance with flower production incompare to variety with red colored flower.
