Abstract
Five
selected treatments viz. Seed
treatment (hot water at 52 C for 10 minutes), Transparent Polythene mulch,
Imidacloprid (Admire),
Seed treatment (hot
water at 52 C for 10 minutes) + Transparent Polythene mulch + Imidacloprid (Admire) +
Cowdung (4 kg/pit) and Cowdung (4 kg/pit) were evaluated for the
management of virus disease complex in cucumber plants during two consecutive year of 2008-09 and 2009-10 at
the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Hathazari, Chittagong. The treatments
varied significantly in terms of disease incidence, number of aphids/leaf,
infected fruits/plots, healthy fruits/ plots, total fruits/plots and fruit
yield. The lowest disease incidence (14.27 %), highest disease reduction (82.38
%) and increased fruit yield (110.74 %) was obtained by a combined treatment of
treating seeds with hot
water at 52 C for 10 minutes + Transparent Polythene mulch + Imidacloprid (Admire) +
Cowdung (4 kg/pit). The same treatment resulted the highest
BCR (2.07) followed by Imidacloprid (1.99), Transparent Polythene mulch (1.88), Cowdung (1.64),
Seed treatment with hot water at 52 C
for 10 minutes (1.62) and control (1.15).
