Abstract
The experiment was conducted at the Agronomy farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University of Bangladesh during March to June 2015 to identify the influence of different combinations of inorganic and organic fertilizers in sesame. There were 12 treatment combinations such as; T0 = control, T1 = chemical fertilizer, T2 = mixed fertilizer, T3 = cowdung + 25% FRD (fertilizer at recommended dose), T4 = vermicompost + 25% FRD, T5 = poultry manure + 25% FRD, T6 = cowdung + 50% FRD, T7 = vermicompost + 50% FRD, T8 = poultry manure + 50% FRD, T9 = cowdung + 75% FRD, T10 = vermicompost + 75% FRD, T11 = poultry manure + 75% FRD. The experiment was laid out following Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The result revealed that application of chemical fertilizer gave highest seed yield (1656.4 kg ha-1) which may be attributed to the highest number of capsule plant-1 (88.93), number of seeds capsule-1 (68.67), 1000 seed weight (2.83g), stover yield (2309.82 kg ha-1) and harvest index (42.35) as were obtained with this treatment. But treatment combination consisted of poultry manure + 75% FRD and vermicompost + 75% FRD also produced statistically similar seed yield as well as yield attributes as were observed with chemical fertilizer. So, considering the soil amendment, the poultry manure + 75% FRD and vermicompost + 75% FRD seems to be promising in sesame cultivation which reduces the use of 25% chemical fertilizer.

Key wards: Cowdung, Vermicompost, inorganic fertilizer, poultry manure, sesame and yield
