 Abstract

Environmental effect on esterase isozymes in the thoracic region of house-fly from different spots of Dhaka city were examined at the Molecular Biology Laboratory, University of Dhaka during 2008. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) technique with 7.5% gel concentration and αand β-napthyl acetate were the staining substrate for the genetic study of esterase isozymes. Four different esterase bands (noted as Est-1, Est-2, Est-3, and Est-4) were identified in the thoracic region having a great deals of variation in their staining intensity in the the samples of different spots from Dhaka city.

Key words: Musca domestica, Esterase and PAGE
